Around 70 vehicles are at the Automuseum Dr. Carl Benz, which celebrates the work of the man who is generally regarded as the inventor of the gasoline-powered automobile.

Situated in a historic mill, the museum is divided into five areas, which show the history of the motorization, from the Benz Patent-Motorwagen to McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 racing cars.

At the entrance, for example, you enter "Dr. Carl Benz-Platz", where the vehicles on display come are by Benz & Cie. in Mannheim and by C. Benz Söhne in Ladenburg, including the 1886 Motorwagen patent 37435.

There is also an important section devoted to Mercedes-Benz vehicles to the early fifties, including curiosities such as a rear-engined Mercedes-Benz, and the elegant 2-seater 170S cabriolet.
